Human cadavers are available by
arrangement with state anatomical boards or anatomy departments of major medical centers.
Contact information for each states anatomical board or major medical center(s) is
listed below. If fresh cadavers are not available, semi-preserved specimens are approved
for use by the American College of Surgeons. For more details on the sites listed below or
for assistance locating a source for cadaveric material, please contact PCRM at trauma@pcrm.org, or call 202-686-2210, ext. 329.A
1995 survey indicated that 75 percent of physician respondents would prefer to enroll in a
human anatomy-based course, compared to one using animals. Thirty-eight percent said they
would pay more for such a course, and 43 percent would travel further to take one.
